Independent test results show the percentage of subjects who reported moderate improvement to total cure in these respective conditions though food sensitivity has also been implicated in many other instances of health problems.

How do I take the Alcat Test?
When you order an Alcat Test we will arrange for the lab to send you a blood test kit. You will need to arrange to have your blood taken either at a local Nuffield Hospital (they do not take blood from children) or at your local surgery (if your doctor is willing). The blood must then be taken to the Post Office and sent immediately by Special Delivery to arrive next day (not Saturday). Results are sent to you within ten to fourteen days of the blood being taken. The blood is dispensed into individual vials containing samples of each food or chemical tested. They are incubated to simulate the conditions inside the human body. ALCAT measures changes that occur in the immune system cells when the blood is exposed to the test substance.

Is it effective?
The ALCAT Test® has been validated by independent scientific studies and has benefited tens of thousands of people worldwide.

Who can take the test?
The test is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 months though the older the child the more appropriate it is to take sufficient blood for a large test such as the BT100. It is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. It is a test for sensitivity not true allergy, for an explanation of this please see further information below. There is no assurance provided that any particular results will be achieved, as your condition may not be related to food or chemical intolerance.

Further Information
How does it work?
The Alcat is a laboratory blood test for sensitivity to foods, food additives, chemicals and moulds. It accurately measures changes in white blood cell size and number, using state of the art instrumentation. The test mimics as closely as possible what actually happens when a food is consumed or chemical exposure occurs and can detect the effects of a wide range of the biological mechanisms that are involved in food and other sensitivities.

What is the difference between food allergy and food sensitivity?
The Alcat test is a sensitivity test not a test for true allergy. True food allergy causes an immediate, immune-mediated reaction such as hay fever or anaphylactic shock. Food and chemical sensitivity, on the other hand, may or may not be immune-related, and its onset could develop in a few hours or a few days after the ingestion of any food or chemical. Food and chemical sensitivity is affecting more and more of the population. It can affect virtually any organ system of the body, resulting in a host of medical complaints from migraine and chronic ear infections to hyperactivity. The ALCAT Test® will not identify acute allergies. It is a scientific clinical test and as such is only intended to provide information regarding possible incompatible foods and other substances.

How do I get my results?
The BT100 test results come to you with a list of foods to which you have reacted. This test also includes a Candida Albicans test, a casein sensitivity test and a gluten sensitivity test. The allowable foods are set out as a rotation diet and the results come in a folder with all necessary information.

ALCAT Test, February 6, 2008
Reviewer: Mr W from Scotland
Almost 3 years ago the ALCAT test identified a number of food intolerances, and after following the diet I experienced a 90% reduction in eczema symptoms.
